Renowned Italian harpsichordist, Alberto Busettini, announces a date, venue & program for the launch of his exquisite new harpsichord. What could provide a more fitting debut for this glorious midnight blue and gold Italian instrument than: an early summer evening concert in Venice; a beautiful Palazzo hall overlooking the Canal Grande; a “Colors of Italy” program spanning 150 years of Italian harpsichord music; &, of course, a stellar artist at the ornate keyboard (FaceBook: Alberto Busettini Harpsichordist)
If you’re not able to be in Venice for the inaugural concert on June 4 you’ll have an opportunity to hear this marvellous program performed by Alberto on Aberfoyle Baroque’s William Dowd harpsichord at it’s 2017-2018 Season Opener in mid-September in Washington D.C.
Aberfoyle Baroque is delighted to have played a small role in helping Alberto acquire this magnificent new instrument. The thrilling concerts Alberto performed to packed audiences during his Washington D.C. debut resulted in his being a recipient of its “Promoting the Harpsichord” honorarium.
Alberto’s new two register, 52 key harpsichord was commissioned from Fratelli Leita, highly skilled builders based in Val Pesarina, Udine, Italy (www.fratellileita.com). It is built after a 1681 Guisti instrument. The exquisite key fronts and parchment rose (after Gilbert Desruisseaux of Lione, 1678) were crafted by Elena de Cortivo. Artist Erica De Rosa decorated the case.
