Our  2017-2018 Season "Harpsichord Rapid-Play: Moves from the Baroque's Opening to Endgame" takes audiences on a glorious musical journey through the Baroque exploring the influences of acclaimed composers, differing national styles, & developments in keyboard instruments.  Our line-up of exceptionally talented harpsichordists & other artists promises to make each of our ten concerts an unforgettable musical experience.

On June 4, 2017, Aberfoyle Baroque joins with renowned harpsichordist Alberto BusettiniContrarco Baroque Ensemble to present an especially sumptuous concert -  "I Colori di Venezia".  What could be better than: Venice; a palazzo on the Grand Canal for a venue; Alberto Busettini on the harpsichord; a stellar Italian Early Music Ensemble; & a post-concert dinner prepared by the famed Academy of the Italian Kitchen?  Join if you possibly can!

This delightful short Bach-centric opera commissioned by Washington DC resident Gary O'Connor is to be performed at this year's Boston Early Music Festival Fringe. Stellar performers include Jory Vinikour (Director), Patrick Kilbride (tenor), Charles Humphries (countertenor) & Andrew Potter (bass). Libretto by Caitlin Vincent; Arranged by Douglas Buchanan.  On June 17, 5:30pm in Lindsey Chapel, Emmanuel Church.

Renowned Italian Harpsichordist Alberto Busettini to Perform in South Africa

Aberfoyle Baroque will feature renowned Italian harpsichordist Alberto Busettini, of Teatro La Fenice, Venice,  at a public Concert in South Africa.  "Harpsichord Music of Baroque Europe" will be performed at St. George's Cathedral on January 27th at 7:30pm.  Alberto will also direct Master Classes open to performers & auditors, and provide mentoring to local rising harpsichord star, Dominic Daula.

Leon Schelhase Leads Master Class on Baroque Ornamentation

On March 12, Leon Schelhase (Curtis Institute of Music) used J.S. Bach's Manual of Ornamentation as the starting point for a highly informative Class on "Baroque Ornamentation for Pianists: Learning from the Harpsichord".  

Leon guided attendees through some of the most commonly used ornaments in Baroque keyboard works, explained their usage & functions, & discussed how the ornaments might be employed on the piano.
